Well crap. I guess I was due for another one anyways, eh? Not that it matters, but I do like the simplistic nature and cool angle of this screenshot. :)
Then I suggest you continue on your way and find a different shot that more suits your tastes instead of simply adding to the already negative atmosphere.
Instead of judging the screenshot based on how many effects and explosions it has, let’s break it down and take a look at each of its compositional elements individually, therefore providing constructive criticism instead of blindly throwing out a negative opinion with no support to the claim.
The angle is indeed unique. The uneven ground makes the image more interesting to look at. The subject placement is spot-on, following the rule of thirds. And to me, I also see leading lines. The smoke trail behind the chopper leads my eyes through the image, allowing me to take it all in.
Granted, there isn’t any particular pizazz in this screenshot that holds my attention, the basic elements that make it up provide for a good foundation to great screenshots later on.

I have nothing against beer, I am just the only one in here honest enough to say the shot sucks…In simplistic pictures, often the scenery, pose, or lighting outrule the lack there of in the other categories, which makes it simple but amazing…there is absolutely no strong points in this picture, the least he could have done would be to add some fx filter, but he didn’t and the picture honestly is not that good. I am not saying that you cannot create a good picture without an explosion or effect, but this is not an example of such…
And my only point is that this comment actually gives the author something to work with and build on while your other one adds absolutely nothing to the discussion. Thank you for coming back and expanding your thoughts instead of just leaving negativity. Please also bear in mind your opinion is just that, your opinion, and not an absolute truth.

And if you want some feedback, then here you go. I think this shot would be better if you…
1. put a spartan in the drivers seat
2. shot a rocket at the back
3. had someone jacking the chopper (cool pose)
4. added an fx such as juicy/pen and ink…
5. shot a missle pod or threw a frag behind the chopper, this would make more sand fly up, and would leave black smoke behind
6. do a more extreme angle, perhaps without zoom, or too focus more on the chopper’s dust left behind
a.) adjust the angle so that the light and the slightly orangish spot in the top right were not visable
7. Do the exact same thing except, have the chopper driving off a hill outside of sandbox, with dust flying behind it, into the sunset…
Yeah, there you go. I came in, stated the honest truth about the shot rather than pick-me-ups to make the author feel good, and added many valuable ideas on improvement of the shot….
although it is not a bad shot (like most the stuff on b favs usually), I personally don’t care for this one or see anything special about it. just my 2 cents in this long written debate.
Well truthfully its not that bad but, as previously stated, its nothing special. Bs I think the problem is, the Halo3Screenshots community has very high standards because of the quality of the content that is on the site.
This pic is really not that good if you are looking for colors (such as explosion), this pic is plain, but the emotions in this pic may be endless, just look at it and what do you feel. It seems this pic is a plain, simplistic, emotional pic, not a colorful explosive pic. I feel in this pic lonelyness, lost, and even hope. Also another positive thing is that the whole pic matches itself (except for that light in the background): the color and the sand representing a dangerous desert with the chopper also representing danger. Also this pic represents a start to a great pic taker. There are many positive things about this pic besides awesome effects. From what has been stated by others and even what I have stated, now I realize from what this pic has that this pic is pretty good.
It’s not as bad as some of you guys are saying. I know it doesn’t have any effects and the name may not make sense, but the simplicity makes it unique. Besides, I think it’s making Angel a bit angry. If I was in here shoes, I wouldn’t really enjoy people acting negatively towards the content that I picked. Putty that aside, I agree with what Harpi said. : )
Not angry, just frustrated at the lack of respect that’s being given to a peer. There’s a constructive way of saying something and a dick way of saying something. I appreciate those that are able to state their viewpoints in a way that allows a lesson to be gleaned from it.
If someone doesn’t think it’s a good shot then give the author something to work with so it can be a learning opportunity. I work hard on fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere, and that means forcing participants to indulge in more than petty insults.
Well … I like it! :D Honestly though, it’s not that bad, and I have enough respect to say this doesn’t suck. Not as elaborate as many shots, but it doesn’t need to be elaborate to be a good shot.
This is not a contender for the ‘bs fails’ category. Maybe a couple things in the shot could’ve be done better (the yellow light in the background is bugging me, lol) but it’s really not that bad. Lighten up and be respectful, guys.
We have all taken shots like this sometime. It simple and its unique. If you dont like it than simply move on. Dont leave a negative comment just to be like “lol it sucks”
