Every few months I go through all the screenshot categories and make changes as needed. Some recent alterations have included tightening up the “time for your close-up” section to include headshots only (it was previously waist and up), requiring “explosive blasts” to have a fan out effect, and adding a general “finishing the fight” category for campaign shots. I’m looking to make two more changes so I’d love some input from those of you who frequent this site on a regular basis.
“Simply amazing” has always been a dump all for great screenshots, typically with cool effects. I’d like to divide it up into something more specific but haven’t been struck with any brilliant ideas yet. If you have time, scroll through that particular category and let me know if anything jumps out at you to further segment it. I’m also debating finetuning the campaign category. It seems a bit general to me. Should it be divided further or is it ok? Any and all organization feedback is appreciated! Please keep in mind that even if you have the best idea ever, I need to have the numbers be able to support the independent categories.

Hmm … Maybe a category reserved for natural screenshots. Like, screenshots that have no use of effects, but good poses / backgrounds, etc. “Natural Beauty”, maybe.
Good suggestion. I’ll look through the screenshots and see what kind of numbers are involved there.
Maybe you could have a “Da Chief” or something like that category for Master Chief shots.
To further segment the campaign category? I’ll have to think about that. Thanks for the suggestion!
As far as the campaign categorization goes, you can always take the easy route and separate them into Human and Covenant.
And for the Simply Amazing category, you could split it into explosion effects and no-explosion.
Or, if that doesn’t work, maybe create categories based on how much action is portrayed in the picture.
If it has a lot of action, like a lot of explosions and gunfire etc., then that can be “explosive goodness” or something along those lines. lol
And the simple, none-action types can go into “Idle beauty” or something.
I like the Human and Covenant separation. Perhaps a “finishing the fight” and a “losing the fight” distinction? …
Hmmmm. Well, I think that you could have a section for Brute shots in Campaign.
And As for the Simply Amazing Category, You could add two more sections off of some of the shots in there called ‘Tunnel Vision’ and ‘Haxorz’ for screenshots with a long tunnel-like effect and screenshots that look like they have electronic interference or a computerscreen or something.

Off the top of my head, I don’t think I have the numbers to support those. I’ll check though!
I’ve actually thought about this before and the two that i’ve always wanted to see are “Fire for effect” where it is images that look cool due to side effects from gunshots/explosions
The other i’ve always liked was “A Glitch in the System” which is pretty self explanatory.
I don’t think I’m familiar enough with various glitches to be able to recognize those unfortunately. I like your “fire for effect” idea though.
there are tones of glitches…and i dont mean just user manipulated glitches i mean any time the game does something i shouldnt, like just a head laying on the ground, or someone outside of a map there are all kinds o shots that can fit into this spectrum, and also the new set up is bland and uninteresting.
I don’t have any suggestions but I do like Leeumm’s idea of making a natural category for non-effect screenshots.
With Simply Amazing, just make 2 different sections. “My Eyes!” for the really bright ones, and “Natural Beauty” for the rest.

Thanks! I love clean layouts and really wanted to spotlight the images more than the past design did. There was a lot of things vying for your attention with the last design; this time I’m trying to simplify to let the screenshots shine.
Damn… I dunno if I like this new set-up or not. It looks very… bland.
It’s still a work in progress. I was hoping to get it all rolled out in one day but I encountered a few problems that broke some pages so that required more time fixing than I anticipated. I expect it will be more dressed up within the next day or two. :)

The way I had it originally set up was with three columns, the entry column being just wide enough for the screenshots. Then I looked at the various project pages (Halo Corpse Alphabet, Movie Scenes, etc) and realized it broke them because those images are about twice the width as the screenshots. I did not like the way those pages looked with the three columns so I changed it to two and traded sides. I’m much happier with it this way and am going to spend some time on the sidebar now!

i don’t know if this is a good place to say it but i don’t know where else to put it. i don’t like the new theme. i usually love change but this theme doesn’t fit. sorry. :(

why did you even change it? the old one was great and now you don’t even have a custom header. its way too plain and boring. please please please jazz it up hawty. i only ask because i care :)

I changed it because I try to do redesigns on my sites once a year to keep things fresh. This one was late, but my goal was to let the screenshots be the focus of the page. When you land here, I want your eye to go immediately to the images without any competition. I loved my last design, but the business of it was wearing on me the last few months so this time I simplified with a more calm color scheme. I know not everybody will like it, but hopefully it will at least become tolerable to you. I do appreciate the feedback, and any specific criticism you can provide is appreciated. The main design is staying, but I’m willing to look at little changes anybody may suggest. :)
I’m not going to lie, MadBOX20 is right. I don’t see myself getting used to this theme. There’s really not much to it. Not even color. I need color…lol!
I thought this was just a temporary theme. i’m sorry to say but i also don’t like it could use some color indeed ^^^
