Over two years ago I put together a screenshot compilation at my other website, Hawty McBloggy. After dipping into Bungie.net’s file system for the first time, I discovered so many gems that I couldn’t stop myself from posting all of them. That solitary article didn’t satisfy my craving for incredible screenshots however, so I created an entire website devoted just to them. Since then I have shared stunning, hilarious, amazing, and some flat out weird images, all taken within the Halo 3 engine. It is that very passion that has led me to a new path, one that will officially close the doors of H3SS. I have accepted a community management position within 343 Industries, and one of the things I’m so incredibly excited about is continuing to share your work. I’ll still be doing what I’ve always done here, it will simply be at Halo Waypoint instead. The archives will stay intact, at least for the time being, and I will let you know when I’m fully transitioned so you can check out super awesome screenshots over at the new digs. I just want you to know how much you, and this website means to me. This website has allowed me to meet people whom I never thought I’d even get the chance to talk to. I’ve really met some great people here, one of them being you of course. You managed to bring so many wonderful people here, and so many spectacular screenshots!
I’ve told you this before, but you really do have an eye for screenshots! You refuse to believe me, but it’s true Angel!
I’m really going to miss seeing you around here, and hawtymcbloggy, but I know you’ll be brilliant at your job at 343i. You were always there for me whenever I need someone to talk to, and whenever I had an idea pop into my head.
You were never short of kind to me and everyone else around you. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say best of luck at your job! I know you’ll be brilliant!
I think it’s wonderful that you are moving on, and that you are heading out to seattle, but we will seriously miss you around here!

I have had this website open as a tab of mine most of the time I am on this computer. I check it out when I know it is time for the website to update. I am glad to say that this site has introduced me to my very favorite content that I would have otherwise never never seen. I would like to take this moment to thank you so much for showing more enthusiasm in other people’s work that nobody could ever match. I’ve grown so attached to this website, I feel sad seeing it being terminated.
But as you said, this is not the end. Therefore, I look forward so much to seeing what you do with waypoint. I hope that they give you so many more ways to expand your creativity and serve the community to your true potential. Please be sure to keep me updated on what new stuff you are doing because I would be very happy to follow and support.

This is sad, but at the same time happy. Even though I don’t usually go to Hawtymcbloggy, I have been going here for years. It’s sad to see this site go, but it was a great experience that I’m sure everyone can agree on. As rascal said, this site brought together many screenshot artists and without your help bs none of us would be where we are today. Plus your amazing dedication to the community has helped many artists both famous and unknown.
But I’m just rambling now haha. This is great news, and I hope you have a lot of fun at 343 (to be honest, before I was kinda skeptical about 343 but now I’m not ^.^). Also, does this mean that you can have your own easter eggs in the games now?? That would be pretty awesome haha.
Also, even though this site is going down, would you mind if I still sent you emails of my screenshots? I loved talking with you and hearing your feedback :)

I haven’t figured out the regular schedule for the screenshot compilations yet. I have a screenshot of the day going up on the website under the blog section and will be doing the larger compilations at least once a month. I’m so glad you like the shot of the day! Comments aren’t enabled there (hoping that will change eventually), so it’s always tough telling what people do and don’t enjoy. As a screenshot fanatic, I have to keep myself to featuring only one screenshot a day. Here I did four!

Agreed; it’s a shame that Halo Waypoint isn’t living up to my expectations. I was hoping it was going to be exactly like this but on broader terms where more people will be able to see these featured screenshots and give their input. But it’s not like that — less screenshots are being featured, input isn’t (and can’t) be given, and more importantly, I think less people are viewing the screenshots since Waypoint isn’t a screenshot site (which I guess ties into my first point).
It’s a shame to me too since I have no place to showcase my photos. The group system on Bungie.net is dead to me since I have yet found a dedicated group since the time I had left the system, Halo related forums that I’m a part of have no interest in screenshots, and I only have a handful of Halo friends (which is fine since I like to keep to myself when I play Halo). Basically, I have no audience and because of that I’ve essentially slipped into obscurity.
Not to mention, I have nowhere to get inspiration from(well other than the Bungie.net search function which granted has improved but it’s still pretty difficult to find actual good photos when using it).
But yeah, here’s hoping Waypoint (well at least pertaining to screenshots) vastly improves.
I definitely agree with you. This site had provided an experience unmatched elsewhere. Ive mainly kept to myself with my screenshots, and I still gain inspiration from my own inspirations. I would love to take a look at your new works paperthinwalls and give my opinions of them, as well as share some of my work with you. There are still those out there who maintain a genuine interest in screenshots, you just need to find them :]

I would support that 100%. Im sure that if you made a group, it would attract a large following. I really like this idea, and considering soul’s question, I think a group is best made on bungie.

i think “Angelic” should be in it for sure, for a variety of reasons. assuming angel makes the group, the name will add to the publicity, drawing in more activity to maintain the group. it is also an original name that works well. as for whatever follows it, i like some of soul’s suggestions. paper was right. photography shouldnt be in it. it lacks originality. i personally really like Artistry.

I think it should be simple and to the point. No adjectives, no tedious words, and no ostentatious words (see the irony? tehehe).

Really beginning to miss the days where I’d see new stuff on this site, it was awesome seeing everyone elses work and occasionally getting your own on and getting a real good opinion on your work, checking it every so often to see if another shot had got up, wondering what might get up, sweet effects, forge art or something completely unique…oh the days.
I’m in the queue for the b.net group but I’m still gonna miss this place, still gonna check it though ;)
And to angel, have you ever considered having someone else run this site for you, you know like have somebody choose pics for you to upload so there’s no time taken with finding pics. Or just assign someone to put shots up here, I dunno i just miss going on here regularly.
